No seat grab bar.
Mirror on wrong side.
Headlight is wrong (?) (and set up for hunting raccoons).
Gauges are wrong.
The right-side crank case cover has an access cover for the clutch.

.. don't they drive on the wrong side of the road in Japan..? this unit has t signals.. yet Xs1's hit the show room floor without t signals..… as the production ran it's course.. they add'd t signals.. round tail light..seat strap and drop'd the fork gathers....

Ding!

Sounds like mutually canceling dings.

Ding! (I could use one of those for *my* racoons)

Ding, ding, ding!
It'd be interesting to find more about that.

Turn signals had to be available, and/or an option, depending on market.
What's unusual is the turn signal mounts.
The early ones supposedly mounted to the fork caps.

It's much bigger, or the rider is 4' 11"
That is one *big* rider.

And, there's more...

Here’s an interesting one...

Left exhaust rocker cover is 3 bolt Like the others, not the oddball 4 bolt.
Sorta makes you wonder what the conversation was like when they decided to make that one a 4 bolt?

It was changed to the 4 studs when they added the compression release for the electric start (72 XS2). After they discovered they didn't need the compression release, they deleted it but didn't change the head back to the 3 stud round cover.

Hi motormike,
no they don't. They drive on the left like the Brits.
In medieval times the Brit's rode on the left so their sword arm faced an oncoming enemy.
The French rode on the right to hide behind their shields.
