hey y’all!

i have a ‘75 xs650 that runs perfectly but won’t idle no matter how tight the idle screws are set in, unless choke is on. carbs are rebuilt and synced and points have just been adjusted properly. i cannot understate how perfectly the bike rides, but as soon as i release the accelerator it can’t hold idle and dies quickly.

also, this appears to turn off and on randomly - it’ll idle and run fine and then randomly will go back to not holding any idle but still running fine when in gear. any ideas?

Can be electric problems
Is it stock with points ?
Any difference Left / Right side ?

i

it is stock with points - no differences on the right and left sides.
I am at electric problem ..Battery connection Fuse holder
Other connectors ..ignition lock kill switch you find info here on the forum

Myself I would probably install a Voltmeter.. Se what happens .. Rather than chasing this intermittent problem.
And as I Always say measure the charging Voltage ASAP Across the battery.
