Hey all. These are the air filters that were in my '81 special ll when I got it around 25,000 miles ago. I don't know if they had been patched up or were just sloppily constructed. Anyhow, they have been falling apart for quite a while now. The side plates were falling off despite globs of glue/sealant. The foam gaskets were also falling off.The bike runs great and the filters are out of site out of mind. I just could not let them slide any longer. I considered cleaning up and reusing the old filter material but it has a lot of loose. Crumbling bits on the inside. It looks like fiberglass plumbing insulation and used to be white.
I will re-atach the gaskets and side plates. I considered a few materials to re-cover the frames and think I've settled on the UNi foam sheets.
So my question is, which color to use. My understanding is that each color represents different filtration. I could probably Google it, and I did try the tech section, but cuold anyone recommend something that is similar in flow to the originals. Is there a more free flowing foam. Not opposed to playing with jets. Thanks for the help.

UNI foam arrived yesterday. The frames were fixed and temporarily wrapped in oiled cotton gauze (cheescloth).Removed the gauze, cut and applied the foam with just a dab of silicone at the seam. Lightly oiled w/ 50/50 oil to gasoline. Went for a ride. Nice cool morning. Vroom Vroom!
