i needed a new sump filter , but figured i'd fix my old one . used a torch to warm up the metal to soften the 30 year old glue holding the old screen in . both top and bottom halves will come apart . clean out the old screen and glue .i had some heavy stainless screen with fine holes . cut a 1 1/8 strip for my new screen , used 2 paint sticks with screen inbetween to bend in a zig zag pattern . put filter back together using 3 temporary bolts to hold it all ,working the screen back into place with the magnets also installed. once together and bolts snugged up . i reglued it together with some 3m panel bond material . once it dries i'll put it in my project bike to see if i ccan breath life back into the '75 . guess it's better than patching the old screen .:bike:
