I have a 73 engine with the big acorn nut on it. I was watching littlebill's video on cam chain adjustment and checked mine. I noticed oil seeping from the pin into the nut. Is this supposed to happen? I did a full engine rebuild and never fired the engine yet.

Yours may use a cork gasket. But, yes, oil dribbling out there is normal so some sort of seal was used on the cap nut. Some years (the early ones) had cork "washers", later years used o-rings .....

I have an extra cork washer somewhere let me know if that is the part you need and I will dig it up and sell it to you

Does anyone know why the xs650D doesnt have a lock nut for the tensioner?

I was adjusting mine for the first time the other day and i thought the PO trashed the lock nut.

So they just dont have one?
