tach cable adaptor broken?

While messing with my forward control mockup, I noticed the tach block off cap was loose. Turns out the entire thing was broken in half. Is that common? Can I just leave out the entire geared shaft? I won't be running a tach. Lastly, I searched and read about a washer that is probably now just floating around inside the case. Should I go ahead and pull the case cover off and remove that?

happened to me. after a quick blast thru my 'hood, I ran the carbs dry, and when one carb ran dry, the bike shook differently, and I noticed mine was cracked rite like your. Find that washer, and get a adapapter off ebay. I dont run a tack, so I have the cap from mikesxs. When I work on the carbs, I hook it up, and zip ty the gage to the bars.
