o-rings??????????

got some real small o-rings with my gasket kit about 1/4" od have no idea where they would go my bike is 78 xs650 special

Are there 4 of them? If so, they're probably for the valve guides. You won't be using them unless the guides get removed. Hopefully they're in good enough shape and that won't need to happen.

Shit I did remove the valves and lapped them then replaced the seals with the new ones I used partzilla parts diagram as reassembly guide they show the seals no o-rings are they some thing used in after market parts! Also the out side diameter of these rings is the size of an old seal. seem too mall for valve stems

There's 2 sets of (4) small o-rings for the head. The attached pics are from the early XS1 parts manual, where the dimensions of the o-rings are given. Look at parts numbered 3 and 7.
