I am working on a friend's bike (77 XS650) and am trying to get the Hughs PMA system running for him. The issue I am having is getting the timing correct. At the moment it seems stuck on "Advanced" no matter what position the timing tab is in. Also, I am curious, notice in the picture, the tab is offset to one side. The pictures of the timing tabs in the instructions all seem to be centered so its not clear to mean which way it goes. However, I have tried it both ways and again the timing seems to say in just about the same place on the Advanced mark on the sticker. I am using a timing light and I have also verified the valve timing is correct. Any suggestions on what else I can look at or try?
