thing is, XS650 parts swap like LEGO so even if the frame ID & papers sez 1980 the rest of it could be from other years.
Certainly the carbs should be 34s not 38s from an unknown year. Me, I'd swap 'em for the 34s rather than fight with them.
I'm trying to spend as little as possible here, so I'll see if I can get the 38's to work.
Another question for anybody: Are the engine side of the BS34 and BS38 the same size? As in, are they interchangeable? Or do I need to swap out the intake manifold boots?
Boots are different size. Does the number on your engine match the frame? I think you might have an earlier engine and carbs and tank in an '80 frame. The engine number is down low on the front, left front if I remember right.
