AFAIK, Lithium batteries are the current best technology.

LI mining is a dirty environmental process.
Well, if we’re going to run on batteries, we’re going to need it.
I have planted 100s of trees in my life but am not a "tree hugger" per se. But mining of LI will need a major step forward to make LI technology cleaner than internal combustion.
I have no doubt! I really have no faith that the people running the show actually give a shit. It’s just the flavor of the month. And yes, I actually do give a shit and that’s what makes me so damn mad.

Yes, it does.
Lithium mining is water intensive. That's becoming more and more a scarce commodity out west. And that's not the worst of it.
