I ground the paint and a little metal off my lower left frame tube so the kick stand can be welded on. That's about it.Return!

That'll get you a clean, well lubed... wore out chain...On another evening I’ll clean and lube and see how that goes.
That sounded (vaguely) familiar.... It's what a stretched chain does when the stretched out links get forced down into the sprocket teeth.and when I push up on the chain it makes a clunk and gives up some slack.

It seems like I just bought that chain and sprockets! Time goes by faster now, but I swear it was just last week that I put that chain on there!Kinking links never get better but they WILL crack and break a side plate.
This one was REALLY nasty but................. Weekendrider busted a chain he had "rescued" from kinky links on the way back from a rally.

Bit of 3 IN 1 oil and that'll be fine . . . ahem.
Thanks Skull! you're a more better searcher, I looked for a while but didn't find that thread. Here' the thread if anyone's interested on how close a call Wer came to

No. I don't remember when I bought it. I did get my last and next chain from 3M at 650 Central. It was probably 5 years ago. (or more) It just seems like last week.seriously it's new?
Hi 5twins, Thank you for the good advice. The tin is on the manifold just hard to see because somebody before me thought it looks better being black.Nice looking bike but I see a couple potential issues with the carbs. First is the pod filters you've chosen. These CV carbs don't like a pleated K&N style element, one that tapers, or a very short one with an endcap. Your filters check all those bad boxes. Also, it appears you left the tin covers off the intake manifolds? Unless they're JBM replacements, you need those covers. They give added support, especially important since you no longer have the airboxes supporting the other end. The manifolds may split on you in short order.
And I see you drank the PMA Kool-Aid, lol. All I can say is good luck with that.
As it turns out, the chain and sprockets on my bike were purchased in 2013! It certainly seems like it was last week. New ones are on their way.seriously it's new?
Funny how that happens! As it turns out, the chain and sprockets on my bike were purchased in 2013! It certainly seems like it was last week. New ones are on their way.
Yeah, I keep a log now of everything I do to any of the vehicles, motorcycles or farm equipment. It's funny how 'just yesterday" turns into ten years and 20K miles ago.As it turns out, the chain and sprockets on my bike were purchased in 2013! It certainly seems like it was last week. New ones are on their way.
