    Funky valve stuff

This is what I’ve been concerned about for a while. I don’t see any oil in my sight glass ever, and I know it’s filled and then some because I do burn a small bit. But whenever I pop my covers the valves look like they’ve been getting oil. I just grabbed a spare set of tappets. I’m going to...

    Funky valve stuff

5twins, is there any sort of measurement or visual inspection I can make to varify this? I have a few other sets from some parts motors I have laying around I was going to try

    Funky valve stuff

Okay so like every 200-300 miles my valves get loud and keep falling out of spec. I know that they will lose there adjustment after a while but I feel like that’s way to frequent. Only known issue I have is a possible bad guide seal in the right head. I run .003 and .006. Any thoughts?

7 pack vs 6 pack clutch

Absolutely 100% out of this world.

7 pack vs 6 pack clutch

Okay cool so I’m golden to start it up in the morning then. With the new assembly in there I have no more play in my basket and my clutch is waaay stiffer then with the 6 pack assembly (with my stock springs still in). Not sure if that due to being a little less worn but I do love a stiff clutch.

7 pack vs 6 pack clutch

This whole thread was actually very insightful. Read thru the whole thing and highlighted a few key points while I was headed to Indiana for some steelhead fishing. Thanks for sharing. I ended up going with the 7 disc assembly I had off of a spare motor. Plates all measured in at 3mm. So far...

7 pack vs 6 pack clutch

Sweet thanks for the insight. Just to clarify I found this video on you tube of the same exact issue I’m looking into. I’ve known about it for about a month. But since last checking into it yesterday it seems to have gotten worse. Probably worse then in this video

7 pack vs 6 pack clutch

So I can use the basket from the 7 pack assembly as a replacement for my possibly worn basket so long as the internal components of the assembly stay the same?

    Clutch cover identification

Yeah sounds bout right. It probably is a 77 cover since I’m seeing the “-03” for 76-79. The motor is came from has 77 matching numbers. Thanks fella!

7 pack vs 6 pack clutch

any huge difference between the two? pros and cons of each, and are they universal? I have the 6 pack on my current motor and the baskets got like a 1/8 inch of play. I want to swap the whole 7 pack assembly from a spare motor I have. Thanks guys.

    Let's See The XS's

If it doesn’t rain tomorrow I’ll hit 3000 miles for the summer so far. They grow up so fast

    Clutch cover identification

Okay so what your saying is that it could possibly be an earlier cover? The cases that came with them date to a 77. But my 79 and 82 covers don’t have this 256 number cast into them. Actually they don’t have any number cast into them.

    Clutch cover identification

Yeah that’s really the only downfall. But my cover is so beat up that it’s just not even fun to look at. Really my curiosity was struck slightly when I saw those numbers. I honestly don’t care about the year of the cover. Just that it’s gona shine up way better then my current one

    Clutch cover identification

So I got a box of random parts for free and in that box found a clutch cover that I want to use because it doesn’t have the oil sight window and there are no scratches or blemishes on it. Inside the clutch cover it’s stamped with a 256 number. Does this identify with an earlier model motor? I...

How ever i may go from a foot lever to a cable if i can find a way to make it work. The issue im having is i cant find a clear route from my feet to...
