I was trying to start my 83 XS after sitting about a week, the electric start clicked, I was getting close to starting, then nothing. No more Neutral light, no electric start click, nothing. I checked my battery getting 12.8V and 100% charged. Checked my fuses, all looked OK. I don't know...

Should I be concerned? Noticed a slight leak at what appears to be the bottom of my engine?

I recently replaced my kickstand with one I found on eBay, wanted to get some feedback. Is this too much play in the 12mm bolt? I tightened it up good and spring works fine.

:doh:Wonderful - So this sounds like it could be a gamut of things.. I do have baffles on my exhaust.

So the only issue I am noticing now is when the bike is in deceleration, it sounds like one side of my exhaust is making a popping sound on and off? Is there possibly still and issue inside my carb?

Hi Fred, If I install the one-way valve at the end of the air breather hose - is it o.k. not to connect back into my air boxes?

So I had some extra hose that I cut to replace the (2) split hoses in the bottom, and bent, and ran over to attach to my stock air box, but there are kinks in the hoses. Doesn't seem to work out all that well.. I just was wondering if I could remove the hoses going back into the airbox?

Great thanks for all your help guys, I got my tang basically horizontal maybe slight downward bend and my float is right on the 22mm mark. Got everything back together and the bike fired up - I adjusted my idle screw 3 turns as recommended and its running perfect again! ! :thumbsup::bike:

Ah Damn! I didn't measure to the top of the bulb. So if I am low say ~17mm, do I really bend that tang up even more!?

So I re-charged the battery 100%, I can get the ignition to operate however the bike will not start without a bit of throttle. I have to hold it up to keep it running otherwise it dies. Kind of back to square one. What should I look into next?
