    Yamaha Bolt

My mate has a W800 and really likes it, he rates it as one of the best he's ever had and that's coming from a man who's owned a lot of Japan's offerings and a Harley too! Looking round my local motorcycle dealer it's only the W800's and the new Triumph Bonnevilles that really tempt me, nothing...

    Yamaha Bolt

I'd have to see one in real life first as most factory customs look a bit messy to me. Anyone know what size the engine is? Just out of interest how does the price compare to a Sportster over on your side of the ocean?

    Uk owners

Don't know about soda blasting but for chrome there's a place down in Hythe, Kent that are pretty good from what I hear. Can't remember the name at the mo but they advertise in the classic bike mags.

    Swingarm question

Just a thought here but when I had a Ducati 900 some years ago and fitted new bronze bushes I found that the spindle would be fine when pushed in from either side but would tighten up solid when it pssed through both bushes. It turned out that the two bushes were slightly out of line, a common...

    My bike won't go backwards!

Going by the feel I think the fault lies in the gearbox somewhere, I was half hoping others had suffered this before but I'm starting to think it's a problem peculiar to my bike :(

    My bike won't go backwards!

It's disc brakes back and front, and i don't think it's clutch drag as with it on the centre stand running in gear if I hold the clutch in I can easily hold the back wheel still by hand. I'm pretty sure it's not a tight chain either as the bike moves backwards easily when it's not in gear. As I...

    Whats your weather right now?

I had a bit of a shock today when I saw that all the snow had vanished overnight!!! It was actually warm enough to mess about with the bike outside without a coat on too :)

    UK Bobber Build thread

I had the same problem with the speedo bulb in my old GS750 chop, at the time though I seriously regretted wiring it as simply as I could only using one fuse as it took bloody ages to track the problem down!!!

    My bike won't go backwards!

I tried to turn my bike round today to take it for a test ride and discovered a most curious thing-with the engine running and the bike in gear I can't roll it backwards! It'll only move a couple of inches then stops suddenly almost like you've left a disc-lock on, in fact I even got off to...

I don't know what style it fits into other than my own, so I just call it "Mjölnir"

I'm no expert on exhausts so I won't try to pretend I know the answer, it's just that the pipes looked like they might be a little bit too short for it to run well-I guess they can't be though if it runs ok :) As for it bogging down I think most engines do if you crack them wide open from low revs.

    G'Day and welcome mate :)

Looks good mate :) How well does it run with those short pipes?

What could cause the chain to be tight then loose as the wheel spins?

I've had "tight spots" in a chain before and it's often down to corrosion or dirt inside the link, generally the only proper fix is a new chain and new sprockets too if they're worn. Depending on how bad it is it can cause premature failure of the gearbox bearing and/or rear wheel bearing as the...

Loss of power/bogging down when in gear.

I had the same problem recently, would run fine in neutral but would get progressively worse when under load to the point it would give up about a mile down the road, and a big part of the problem was that the foam on the original air filters was collapsing! I didn't realise what the problem was...
