    Points Problems, imagine that.

I had to remount my ignition switch but i got everything tucked away and secure. With the timing light and some new plugs the old girl runs! And like a champ at that! The pamco really seems to have made a big difference combined with the lapped valves. Really happy with how this is turning...

So I found the power problem, forgot to check te one fuse right in front of me. Got that ironed out, 2 more questions. First of, this dual output could is much longer than stock and won't fit the mounts, do you guys have any sly locations that you've used? The second question is that in the...

    Points Problems, imagine that.

I tried briefly yesterday with a 12v light. No luck, not sure if it was me or the lack of power. Just to see if the system had power I pressed the starter with the key on and the starter did not spin. Everything is hooked correctly to my knowledge. Going to grab the old multimeter and try and...

    Points Problems, imagine that.

Okay so I haven't been around my bike to trace the voltage drain yet. In the meantime I actually bit the bullet and ordered a pamco from mkles XS. I'll attach the link, is this all I need? Hopefully? My bike is a '79 standard. Do I need the advance rod and bushings or is the stock useable...

Okay so I got as far as getting the gaps set. Went to set the timing with the 12v light as you said but no power to be found, key on and off. Battery has juice. Checked all hook ups and grounds that were undone when I pulled the motor. Everything seems to be in order, at least to my memory. Any...

    Carb intake manifolds. Recommendations?

Hey Ya'll I'm looking to get some new intake boots (manifolds) for my '79 with stock 38 carbs. The stock originals that came on the bike worked fine for most of the summer but into the fall they began to get more cracked and the bike started pulling vacuum in the right side causing some...

    Pre-spring tear down questions.

Also to be clear i tried replacing the old carb boots because they were a little cracked thinking this was the problem right away. Well the new ones that i had purchased were chincy as hell and bowed when tightened to the head. Any suggestions on what i should do with the originals or new ones...

    Pre-spring tear down questions.

Hey guys. This fall my '79 Xs was popping fairly badly and pulling some heavy vacuum through the right side carb. I suspected a burnt valve or something of the like when i stored it for the winter. Well here i am getting the itch to ride on the nice MN days were getting. So today i pulled...

Rights-side exhaust popping & pulling vacuum. Help!

Valves were last done this spring, 2000 miles since then. Diaphragms are good. Haven't synced recently, that was my next step. mix screws are set a 3 turn out.

Rights-side exhaust popping & pulling vacuum. Help!

Hey guys, it's getting colder here in MN at the end of the riding season and i've noticed my bike has been popping on the right side a bit. I cleaned the carbs and messed with the air mix and that helped for a while. It's started again and i'll make a list of symptoms and changes i've made...

    Carbs leaking gas over night.

I was thinking of going with that route. What is the part # for the non-vacuum ones? As for the plat did you weld it or just silicone the edges and screw it on with existing bolt threads?

    Carbs leaking gas over night.

Thanks for the fast reply! Yes it does have 2 vacuum petcocks. With fuel lines off and the petcocks on i can watch fuel drip out about 10 drops per minute. I had suspicions about this because before the tank was painted and the petcocks weren't removed there was no leak. Should i order a...
