I certainly could use the oil delivery tube off the engine (the whole assembly). Mine is toast from a remote oil cooler (DERALE brand) that was installed many, many year ago. Now I'm going back to the stock setup but the the oil delivery tube needs to returned to the stock unit. It it the W...

What electronics can I salvage off a 1998 Yamaha R1 for my XS650 Build?

I didn't know the R1 would fit the xs650 frame. :yikes: I'm thinking at this point I may just keep the R1 for my next build. :)

What electronics can I salvage off a 1998 Yamaha R1 for my XS650 Build?

It is wrecked. The tail section of the frame is cracked/broken. Because of the placement it could be re-weld it and would be fine. But since this is an xs650 build I can't mess to much with the R1 besides pulling parts off it.

What electronics can I salvage off a 1998 Yamaha R1 for my XS650 Build?

I was actually thinking about rebuilding the bike, but, it has been sitting out in the elements for god knows how long. The gas tank was off and the carbs were in the elements as well. So who knows what rust, or damage the engine has sustained. I'm not familiar with engine rebuilding or how one...

What electronics can I salvage off a 1998 Yamaha R1 for my XS650 Build?

I'm still working on it fellas. I'm afraid the dilithium crystals are spoken for. The good news is the anti-matter drive is still available. Yey. The motor would be wicked in the XS650 frame. After a bunch of frame mode of course. I'm still trying to see what is available to salvage off the...

What electronics can I salvage off a 1998 Yamaha R1 for my XS650 Build?

Ghetto, Thanks. So I can use the stock flasher off an R1. I just checked out the electrical diagram of the R1 and it looks like they only 1 flasher for both the front and back. Doesn't the 650 use 2 (1 for back and 1 for front)?

What electronics can I salvage off a 1998 Yamaha R1 for my XS650 Build?

I've got full access to a salvaged 1998 Yamaha R1 which has good electronics, wiring harness, regulator, rectifier, flashers, engine, carbs, forks, wheels, complete front and rear brakes, hand controls, front and rear master cylinders, clutch, stator, etc, etc. I know their are a lot of new...

78' Yamaha xs650hs Brat Style Virgin Build

The brat style website is very cool. I've had it saved in my bookmarks for awhile now. No mention however why the brat name came about however. Maybe someone who knows can chime in. When I was putting the plan together to start building my bike I looked that website for inspiration. It's...

78' Yamaha xs650hs Brat Style Virgin Build

Yes, it's mounted to the frame, but the rear wheel has about 1-3/16th's of travel before hitting the fender at the lowest point. The shocks are 10.5" HD Sportster shocks which have approximately 1" travel and 1/2" of sag, so 1/2" of usable suspension. There pretty hard ridin. I'll have to...

78' Yamaha xs650hs Brat Style Virgin Build

So the bike is back from the welder. I had the seat rails dropped in brat style and it now has a nice stance. Things I have done thus far: Lowered forks 2.5" ala Mulligans instructions here used ATF fluid in place of fork oil, no leaks, reused all stock seals and hardware. Installed some dirt...
