Anyone have a CX500 and have any thoughts on them?
I'm contemplating getting another bike for two up riding with my girlfriend. We've done a few rides on my XS and its ok but she's not very comfortable. I have a KTM950 that is more comfortable for her but she's a bit scared of it and I can...
Dumb question but how much oil does your bike typically consume?
Seems I'm topping off about every 200 miles and it's a fair amount to get it on the dip stick each time. I'm not sure whether this is concerning or not.
I had a Buell XB9 and also had a Sportster. Riding them it was hard to believe they were supposed to be based on the same motor. Sporster was a 1200 and the Buell was 8XX and the Buell was insane in comparison.
The Buell was one bike I regret getting rid of.
At what point did you guys decide to go all out and restore your XS?
My bike is a special and I have it running well at this point but it only looks good from 15’ if I polish it up. Its my favorite bike to ride on the street and have only been doing enough to keep it running well. I’m about to...
For you old gurus I just was planning (already have the parts) on adding a second caliper up front and modern floating rotors to improve my braking.
Am I wasting my time?
I just want some better brakes on my beach cruiser(80 special), especially now that the new girlfriend is down to ride and...
I’m located in DE but venture into MD and PA regularly.
Just looked and DE is listed under a different regional board. Doesn’t seem like the regional boards get a lot activity.
I’ve seen a bunch of fork lowers polished but has anyone returned there corroded legs back to a brushed look by sanding them down?
What was the final grit you used for the final step to achieve a nice look?
I pulled my rear turn signal off today to bend the mount back into shape to straighten it. Turns out I bent the stem on the rear signal in addition to mounting point so a made another new stem on the lathe, straightened everything out and got both turn signals back in order.
The lesson here is...
I dropped my bike the other day and busted off a turn signal so today I took it off and found I snapped the threaded stalk off.
I was able to take an easy out and pull the snapped off piece out of the signal. I then bought a stainless bolt and gun drilled on my mini lathe to repair my turn...
Thanks, just ordered all my parts so my bike will probably be pulled apart in 2-3 weeks.
Have another bike that just had its engine case welded at a shop today so putting that one back together will take priority. Once it’s rideable the Xs will have its turn under the knife.
There’s another forum I’m on they do a game of photo tag. We did a 200+ mile ride today that ended about as far south as you could go within the game boundaries at an old lighthouse. We grabbed the initial tag at an old BSA/Norton shop and headed south.
Just got back from a 200 mile ride and my front rotor is warped pretty badly at this point and my left fork seal is gushing.
I only want to pull the front end off once but am going all in to fix the brake and fork seal. I’m going to put twin discs on while I’m working on it. What is the thread...
