    1977 XS650

My '77 D model does not sound much different!

For Sale - For sale .. inventory including reconditioned and rebuild bs38s and 34s and more parts coming

Not sure if Phil Little was/is Omar's? He is still making bits apparently. I emailed him direct asking about maybe making a "Storm" tank/seat for a potential project that fell through. He replied indicating that 'yes, he was very definitely still in business', and to email him direct with what...

For Sale - XS2 FOR SALE

Nice looking bike. I note the drum front brake. Here in the U.S. every '72 I have ever seen has a disc brake. Did Canada just get them with drums, or perhaps this is a very early serial #? Just curious really. It must sound great with those Dunstall mufflers!

For Sale - ISO good swap meets

The Barber swap meet is amazing, as is the whole venue. As another member indicated it can apparently be hard to get a spot, so decide early and make reservations, especially for accommodations. Never been to Mid-Ohio but the reports after the fact make it seem huge. A reminder, both those...

    1977 XS650

Just push in that little tab and pull gently on the harness itself, should pop right out.

Bought my first cafe (XS650 1974)

Just watched your video, and I note the bike did not even pop, although compression looks good. It must have some kind of small battery there somewhere, you want to make sure that is solid for sure. I have a '74 TX650 and a '77 XS650. They both start differently but the same, if that makes...

    Speedometer and tachometer rebuild

I have lubed them by pulling the inner completely out, putting a glob of grease in one hand and pulling the inner through the grease, then reinsert the inner back into the outer sheath. I don't use a lot as I had heard of the grease 'travelling' into the meter and making things sticky. Then...

I can only select 1st and neutral...

Can you "dry shift" it? By this I mean, with the engine off and bike on the center stand, can you shift through the gears? Rotate the back wheel while doing this to help turn the gear shafts internally. If you can only get into first and neutral then perhaps one of the aformentioned small...

    Rebuilding speedometers/tachometers

That is a very extensive thread with a lot of pics and info. Greatly appreciated. I will try to tackle the seized speedo this season, no rush as it is a spare. It's just so nice it would be a shame not to try and fix it. Much appreciated!

Classic Motorcycle Day Maryland May 19th 2024

I may be mistaken but that is the same day as the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride day. Maybe 2 birds with one stone?

    Rebuilding speedometers/tachometers

Has anyone found a source for rebuilding the later meters? I saw the post about the North Hollywood shop but they look like they do euro cars. I'm thinking shops like Nissongers (NY??:umm:) but to my knowledge they only do British meters (I should probably check). For reference I'm looking to...

    Wanted - Foot peg mount

I have a set of footpegs/mounts from a '78 standard, which should be the same part # as a '77, and a set of very nice meter cups from same, without scratches or blemishes. Let me know if you are interested.

    Phantom 78 650 rebuild Part 2

I'm in the process of rebuilding a couple of front master cylinders myself. Looking for the rebuild kits I see them on HVC so far, and probably Mikesxs and eBay. After removing the plastic reservoir I saw the O-ring there. HVC does not carry. I discovered that Yambits in the UK does carry that...
