Can I pull the whole fork/steering assembly off to install the steering bearing kit or am I asking for trouble not removing the forks first? Sorry if this is a obvious question. I fought after replacing the fork seals getting the forks to slide back into the clamping sections so I'm hoping to...

thanks for the response. Maybe mine is wired wrong inside. For sure the one ground wire lights up the backlight and the second one for all 3 indicator lights when I test it. I was hoping that mine would be wired like that which would make sense. Here is the instructions but also how it works...
