Oh yeah lol I shifted at 7k in 4th and that was about 65-70mph then coasted up to 80mph in 5th at 5k-5500rpms. She holds pretty well, and as far as ignition I have a pamco and timing may need an update I'll take a look into that. However I am running a bit rich and the throttle has some play in...
Yup! Already on it peanut, I took a small video today of just the bike pulling to 7000RPMS here :
and a walk around video of the bike here:
Been thinking about selling her lately, getting something more for touring, hmmmm who knows. I put it out there just to see what offers I...
Solved!
Found a stator wire that was having intermittent / poor connection to the R/R, which was why I was getting all the confusing readings. After a bit of soldering the problem disappeared ! Phew.....!
Ok Results of test with the stator disconnected from the Reg/Rec:
T+L
idle : 10.3-11.0
@3000rpms : 31.7
T+R
Idle : 10.8-11.4
@3000rpms : 30.2
L+R
idle : 10.9 - 11.5
@3000rpms : 32.1
So this would confirm the stator is working?
well its back to the flow chart to retry a few things.
I'll...
Ok guys! here's an update!
I did the test that carbon outlined in the video and here is the results:
*multi-meter was set to AC lowest setting I had was 200, motorcycle was started and warmed up*
Inserted probe 1 in top of connection from the 3 yellow wires from the stator in the PMA...
Thanks carbon! As soon as I get a free day I'm going to test the stator, I'm pretty sure you are right and that is now my prime suspect, thanks for the good info! I will post as soon as I find something out!
Ps that PDF is gold, thanks again!
OK here's an update y'all.
-Got the new reg/rec from TC Bro's installed with plenty of slack in wires and triple checked all connections.
-Got new battery that is 6ah and 12V, threw it on the trickle charger for a day before install
Went for a test ride today :
Bike felt good except...
Ok so I found a 12v 5.5 ah, it's a yammy RD350 battery that fits the dimensions I need. What do y'all think? or maybe just do a capacitor only ...hmmmm....
Well an amp meter is only about 10$ so I might pick one up and check, the battery I was running is a 12v, .4 amps, and 3ah capacity, for my kickstart only with LED tail lights and flashers and stock headlight. Might look into a larger capacity, any recommendations?
Also I heard back from Josh at TCbros the very same day I messaged them, and I am fully covered, good guys over there for sure!
I'll run a fresh battery once I get the new system just to make sure there's no added stress on the charging system too just to be safe.
Well she gets ridden nearly every day before this but you might be right peanut, I might have to buy a new battery and just test that theory, I was running an ATV battery and a capacitor inline, both of which were new as of March 2015. And she never sat for over a few days in the garage, maybe...
