thanks for all the replies. cros36 you were right on the money w/ first reply. not sure why but i was screwing lever adjuster all the way out instead of in before adjusting worm gear. pretty dumb. just got excited and didn't really think about wht i was doing. Thanks again.

any body have a shift stopper assembly that they can part with. my bikes an 82 but any year will work. cant get the pic on here but it is bike bandit part#1171649. or number 19 on the shift cam schematic for the 82. last part i need to finish my rebuild. Thanks

as far as breaking i'm not worried about because i'm replacing chain and tensioner guide just want to rivet new chain together. is that a 7/8" capacity. how did chain hold up?

anybody tried to peen the rivets just using a punch? will it work?

anybody have a cam chain breaker/ riveter? trying to rebuild my motor this weekend and ordering alot from mike's already. trying to avoid buying one for a one time job if anyone out there has one I could borrow. I can pay for shipping no problem. Thanks and God bless
