    Thinking of making a change...

It's okay. I have come to accept my addiction. If you have another engine lying around, why not buy a frame and make another chopper. You could also restore a xs650 to its original glory. It's all endless and limitless. I just wish I had the metal working skills you did to do what I...

    Old and New Bike

I especially like the way you painted the frame purple. It stands out better than just the regular black. Definitely inspiration for me on my project. The green one looks like it has a G&L hard tail. Both bikes are killer although I am a little more fond of the purple and black one

    Thinking of making a change...

If you are able to find another xs650 for really cheap, you might want to consider selling and starting all over. I did a search of completed listings on ebay and found most xs650 to sell for 800 to 3000. Most that didn't sell is probably because they didn't meet the reserve. So you could...

    G&L Choppers

I have been recording video of the build for a video documentary, and take pics for a build journal. I haven't gotten around to starting my own build thread and posting up the pics. Stay tuned, after my finals I plan to get a lot of pics posted.

Learning to MIG Weld. Advice Needed

Ha, you said penetration. I understand penetration to be when the molten metal that is created when welding is created all the way through the materials being welded. Thus ensuring a good bond. I could talk about the other penetration that I know of, but I don't think that would be...

    rapidly getting sick of snow

You haven't experience winds until you've experienced the sand storms of the Chihuahuan Desert. 80 mph gusts, brown skies, dirt in your teeth just from going from your house to your car. Luckily, it's wide open land here in west Texas so we don't have to worry much about being blown off of...

    G&L Choppers

I purchased a chopped 79 XS650. When I stripped it down and bead blasted it, the hardtail section didn't look right. I found G&L choppers online spoke to Rich (hell of a guy with great customer support) and he set me up with a new hard tail, battery box, tank, and seat pan. I even had them...

Spoke Wheels - Rear Axle Spacer

Does anyone know the dimensions for the rear/drum brake side axle spacer/collar? I switched from mags to spokes so the old collar isn't big enough for the G&L hard tail frame. I was just going to make a spacer, but if anyone has one for sale cheap, I will consider that also. Thanks

Learning to MIG Weld. Advice Needed

Already spoke to the instructor and he is going to give me pointers when I visit the school. But really, all he talked about was just getting some metal and practicing, so I don't know how much he will help in the end other than checking to make sure i have good penetration and welds. Like I...

Learning to MIG Weld. Advice Needed

seat loop? what is that and why would it be good to practice on? What gauge of steel do you recommend for making the tabs? I want to make sure I get the kind of metal that I will be using to practice on.

Learning to MIG Weld. Advice Needed

I just got a bunch of scrap from my dad's office so I can't say what kind of metal I am working on. It does have a coating because it burns off as I weld. It was just metal to start practicing on, but i know i need to get some good raw metal. My hopes is that the welding teacher can spare...

Learning to MIG Weld. Advice Needed

Thanks for taking the time to look at my beads. I already had the frame hard tailed by G&L choppers. The only thing I need to weld on now is the rear fender, fender struts, pedals, etc. Trust me, I left the big stuff to the pros.
