I've been down this road by putting 16.5" shocks on my XS. With some slight modifications to a YZ450 chain slider, I cured the problem on the top of the swing arm. Because my swing arm is also stretched and under-braced, I then had to address the clearance below also. I made up a mount and with...
There's not much room to add anything else the way I have it setup. I have other electronics hidden on the opposite side of the headlights. I did upgrade to LED bulbs and that has helped out some. This is not exactly a bike that I spend a lot of time riding at night. I try not to do that much...
I'm not exactly sure what your question is. The clutch and front brake are both hyrdaulic. The reservoirs are bulky and I like the look of the smaller little tubes with the extra instead of the large cups.
Well, I certainly did not update this thread like I wanted to, but the bike is finally on the road. The tank is currently at the painter and some other odds and ends need to be powder coated before it's completely done, but I figured I would post some photos of where it's at. The bike is running...
I'm running an xs750 tank so there is tons of room under there. The tunnel on it is about 4" wider than the 650 one so I really don't think cooling will be a problem. I just wasn't sure if interference from the coil would mess anything up. Thanks for the replies!
I'm working on the wiring for my new build and was wondering if the reg/rec would be too close to the coil in this position. Would that be a problem or can it live there?
Thanks for the suggestions, fellas. The only reason I'm considering upgrading the stator is because everything else will be fresh on the entire bike and I would just feel better knowing everything was new. I'll look into a few of these options that ya'll suggested.
I'm about to start wiring a newly built 750 big bore engine and I'm looking for suggestions on which ignition to run. The stator is factory so it will probably need to be upgraded also. Since this is a frame-up build, I am starting fresh. So... what ignition unit should I put in this thing?
I'm digging your build! I'm a former touring musician, bike builder and Texan too. Ha. And I'm building something very similar to this as well. A house purchase has slowed me down a bit but that should change within the next few weeks and I hope to get back on this build...
It still says 653cc on the bottom front of the left cylinder. I haven't been able to find much info on the kit but the shop that did the build is very reputable and said that's what it was.
I got the parts from Cognito. Front hub, steering stem, top triple and bearings. Thanks for the kind words. It's slowly coming together but I'll try to keep this updated.
After spending the better part of far too much time on a 1973 CB750..
I finally decided it was done. So what now... Start a new project!
Limey bikes up in Austin sold me a titled 1975 frame and did a big bore build for me with a NOS Yamaha Factory 750 kit that he had sitting around...
