Despite some good advice I ended up at worse case scenario. The guy at the machine shop said he would give it the old college try. The bolt has a hole drilled through it with an easy out broke off in it. Meantime I'm working like a dog getting the Yamabond cleaned up and waiting on the cylinder...
Gary, my bolt is the right size but I just discovered I have two of them and there is no 6 stamp. Unfortunately the bore does not go through to the tensioner.
The sleeve in the head is as long as the shank on the bolt. The threads are broken off in the cylinder head. So the bolt is broken down in a hole that is an inch deep.
During the torquing sequence on the top end the 6 mm bolt on the head to cylinder between the carbs broke off. I was wondering if it could be repaired without tearing the motor back down.
I know the bike has charging issues because I have to keep it on a tender. Without it the battery will die on a half day ride out. Before the carb work it would run fine right down until the battery tapped out at around 11.5. I will address the charging issue and hopefully find the solution to...
OK I feel like the repair on my t pipe was a success because the gas was coming out in a stream from my bowls. I guess it's time to take a look at the electrical side.
I removed the coating back past the two ridges, honed the metal down to fit the inside diameter of some o rings I had. They fit snug into the penetration on the carb body. They are not leaking buy it is possible one may have slipped off and obstructed flow.
The t pipe connecting my carbs started leaking so I repaired it. While I had the carbs off I cleaned them up and put new carb holders on. The fuel leak is fixed but now when I get up to 5000 rpm the engine loses power. Is there a chance I screwed something up or did something else go wrong at...
