Wiil carbs from 76 work on my 71

The manifolds are angled differently. If you have the original manifolds, well, they need replacing anyway. Your old style ones are hard to come by so you might as well upgrade to the new style and angle. That carb set is a very good one, some consider it the best of the 38s. Personally, I would look for a cheaper set. If I paid $80, I would want them like new and ready to bolt on. Used carbs aren't usually like that.

Guru thanks for the reply, the fella tells me they are fine and work well but we 'll see. They also come with a new set of pod filters and it seems he has other parts to get rid of so the trip may be worth it Thing is my old carbs are pretty rough and a throttle spring boss has been broken on the one side and the slide tubes are stuck. im thinking if these carbs look ok they may be the way to go.

liked carbs are *always* better than their unlinked versions, if only for balancing. my opinion is that $80 isn't a ridiculous price, either., if they came off a running bike. it's still really buyer beware though.

if he's got the pods, ask him if he's got the carb mounts as well and will throw them in. you may be able to get the whole setup for that price.

Yes, big difference. They won't be linked and will more resemble your originals. Personally, if I was buying carbs, I wouldn't buy unlinked ones. This is your chance to upgrade to a better, more modern linked set. I would take it. Linked sets started in '76.
