Gary wants rider shots. Here is my daughter cruising (not scantily clad) down the road.

Hey nic81xs, I like the looks of your bike. Since I am a nonwelder this looks like something I could do. Did you make the seat and side covers yourself?

This is my '82 that I ride everyday. It is, literally, my sole transportation right now. Since it was so nice today I went down to the "point" in my neighborhood and took these.

I'm loving this weather today.
That is the Indian River Bay in the first two, looking towards the Indian River Inlet, and the lagoon going to my house in the third.

Heres my '73 tx650

'82 special II
bought this bike for parts until I realized it only had 2K miles and was a few hours from being a runner. Scrounged parts, made clip ons, made a seat, bobbed a ratty rear fender. Makes for a good run around bike. Matte black spray bomb is honestly an upgrade from the rattle can metallic green it was before :)

Well done! Inspiration for one of my '83s.

Thanks, Bill. Fun to throw a bike together quickly with the personal understanding that there's no money to spend on it. Also feels good to keep a bike on the street that has been long forgotten by previous owners.

My everyday ride is an '83 but I've also got another great running '83 that I've been trying to decide what to do with. My everyday '83 has fairing and hard saddlebags but I'm really thinking leaner and doing what you did would only require my time and a rattle can. Could be that's the way I'll go.

Mitchp, Very, very nice...really makes me wish I had picked another bike to fiddle around with....well, you know what they say about hindsight.

Check this out kids!! Frame and wheels powdercoated by Ray Paul Powdercoating in Canton,Ga(thanks Dad!!). Mikes XS stainless steel spokes rolling on the original 73 rims wrapped with an Avon Venom 150 in the ass end and a Bridgestone who cares gonna be replaced with an Avon Speedmaster in the front. 4" over front end with highly polished lowers. Bates-style headlight from J&P. 32 Ford STOP tailight from TC Bros. Harley peanut tank. Hardtail and rake from PO. Engine is a rebuilt 73 top end thats been highly filed, sanded and polished externally by me(took me all winter last year in front of the t.v. with a box lined with a trash bag, a shop file, a Dremel and a bunch of different grades of sandpaper to make that happen...nobody has a prettier XS motor than mine...I defy you lol). Internally, motor is stock. New timing chain, guide, gaskets and a new nut and bolt kit from Mikes. Bottom end was prepped and shot with hi-temp Duplicolor rattlecan...good stuff!! Forwards came from TC Bros. The Pamco Ultimate ignition and Hughs PMA sit next to me in boxes waiting for their install. Redtop Donovan sent me a solo seat thats gonna ride on dual Chopper Shox with a little welding fab thats gonna go through the diamond plate where the drop seat is in the pic. The rear fender and struts are just a fuck around mock up...still researching something thats gonna wrap nice. Im gonna run front fender and front brakes. There ya go...hope you like it so far!
