I have a question about working steel. The photo is of my machete. It has a parkerized finish, and where the finish is wearing off on the cutting edge there are tiny lines. They are visible in the photo as horizontal lines on the left side of the blade. What kind of process would leave those and how does it work? I can't picture a grinder that would leave those but it must be some kind of one.

Looks like they used rollers to forge the tapered or sharp edge, I dont know if it is cold forged or hot, It depends on the thickness and what kind of metal it is.

Looks like it may be a dedicated sharpening machine that has two angled cutters, like a heavy duty version of the household knife sharpener. Those tool marks are indicative of a milling cutter or other profiling cutter more so than a grinding stone.

I looked more closely and the lines are across the rest of the blade too. Maybe it's rolled and the bevel is rolled onto it as well. Maybe the lines are the impression from lines in the rollers. It's 1/8" thick, and heavy; not the sheet metal type you often see.
