So alcohol got the best of me and i decided to parts shop. I accidently ordered sr 500 shocks for my 650. I did not realize this until they had already shipped. Before i ship them back will they work? or will they be to soft for a 180lb rider? they are from a company called TEC on ebay. Thanks.

Hi ineedabeer,
I opened the link and they look cute, anyway.
The link don't tell you the spring rate, the length or the mounting bolt diameter so you gotta do a measurement check to see if they fit and if they'll fit you need a trial install to do at least a sit'n'bounce test to check the spring rate.
But you are already out their $50 shipping charge and you'll be out the return shipping on top of that if you send them back.
Hopefully they'll work for you and if they don't you can choose between eating the shipping cost or putting the shocks in your "parts to trade" stash.

I'm pretty sure most of their shocks are the same shock body with different bottom eyes to suit the bike in question. They probably have a couple different spring weights as well. I'm pretty sure the SR500 and XS650 use the same mounting eye diameters so there should be no problem fitting them. The SR is a lighter bike so I'm not sure about the spring rate. The bottom eye is adjustable for length on these. Hopefully you can extend them to somewhere between 13" and 13.5". That's slightly longer than stock and what most of us try to get as a replacement. Here's a link to their web site with contact info. You might want to inquire if the shock and springs are the same for the SR and XS .....

Hi Guys,

I've run my XS "D" as a solo and sidecar bike, and I have rear shocks from a 1970 Triumph T100c and they seem just fine. One of the nice things about an XS is that they are so forgiving.....fyi.

Here in my little shop I consider SR and late model XS shocks to be interchangeable. I don't notice any difference in performance regardless of which bike a particular set of shocks is on. I'm partial to Progressive Series 12's and Hagon Custom shocks, both good for their price point.
