Hey, I'm new to XS650's, and Motorcycles in general. My Father owned a 78 XS650, and he is the reason I am interested in getting one. I wanted to know how much work is required with this bike, and about how long it would take to get it on the road. There is a 77 XS650 at my local junkyard that is being held for me currently, it has no title hence why I didn't get it already. It will be a parts bike. I am interested in your 75 XS650, but I would need some time to get the cash to purchase it off of you. How long would you be willing to hold it for? I'm in the New Gretna area, and have friends who would allow me to either borrow their truck, or they would go with me to give me a hand getting it back.
Thank you -
Matt

I seen his add on Craigslist, and he is listed in clementon nj,so roughly about a 40-hour drive from you.As for the no title bike, would be best to buy and use as a spare parts bike/sell off parts you do not need if you have a decent price.Getting a title in NJ is most of the time the biggest pain in the ass thing you will have to go and do if it is not titled, and if you get lucky enough normally will cost you a bunch of time and money to get.

Yeah. I saw the CL add as well. My dad showed my this site and told me I should sign up for it and look around. I was thinking of financing a V-Star 650 Custom, but that's $5000, plus full coverage, ect. I want something that I can build and put time into so I can have a sense of respect for how a bike works and should ride. I've never ridden on the street, though I rode as passenger with my Uncle once on his 2013 Yamaha 1300. I was originally pulled towards SuperSports(GSXR, CBR, ect) but I feel that would be me ending up dead with one of those. But the 77 at the junkyard would be a parts bike, tank, ignition, ect, to finish this one if I can aquire it before it is gone.

DAMN!!!!! :yikes: New Jersey musta really grew since the last time I drove through it....DAMN.

I'm the fellow that purchased the fenders, seat and rear rack off this bike......if the rest of the bike is in as good of shape as the stuff I got.......that has to count for something. The chrome was GREAT and so was the seat.....you can tell that the bike wasn't left outside to rot.

Good luck with which ever way you decide to go......Gordon in NC

Oh.....and if it's going to take almost 2 days of driving to go get it.....ya better pack a lunch!

I'm about 45 minutes north of Atlantic City. I work there, at Taj, and I want to get a motorcycle due to the fact that 90% of my money goes to gas using my dads Buick.

Grab that '77 and keep it secure. If you're going to go with an xs650 for sure - it will be invaluable in parts or as reference when you're working on another.
Might even be able to pick up a titled neck with papers through this site if the Clementon bike falls through.

Welcome aboard.
