Why didn't I get gas back there, next interchange is 40 miles!
I should have put the inner liner in my jacket.
Why are those riders on the other side of the Interstate waving at me?
Look at that burgundy Cadillac Northstar Eldorado, what a beauty!
Is it better to put up with the dirty air behind the semi, only to ride past it and get stuck in a cross wind or a head wind.
What a great day for a ride!
Those stainless tankers leave a nice vacuum point well back from the rear and in good view of the driver's mirrors, but don't be tempted - even better quiet air I found was way back from the end of B train, two 40 footers, usually UPS, you could roll back the throttle and get sucked along all in view of one of the mirrors.
Marked cruisers are for traffic safety, ghost cars with radar are tax collectors that cause folks to jump on the binders at the worst times.
I cannot remember the last time I was in a motel room that had light bulbs bright enough to read a map. Is this energy saving really cost effective if I turn on all the lights in the unit so I can see?

Look at the flat bed with the 60 Olds 4 door hard top and the 53 Chev Pick up on the bumper lift. I prefer the half ton, the Olds is a more singular taste.
Here in southern Ontario, most Harley riders will not wave at metric riders, many metric riders will wave, though. Down on those twisty NC roads, the Harley riders were waving at everyone, even in the corners! No way I was taking my hands off the bars to wave back, not that I wave much in the flat land anyway.
Are they such superior riders with great machines that they can set the bike up in the corner and then just supervise? My hat's off to them!

Two days from Stecoah back to Toronto, one short day on account of rain near Summersville, really liked the section of I-79 after the Summersville short cut and the rest went well. I missed the heavy rains of Wednesday and Thursday so all is good. As usual, the only bad traffic was back in Canada from Niagara Falls all the way back to within a few miles of home. I passed through Pittsburgh in mid afternoon in about 15 minutes even with construction! What is it about Cndn roads and drivers?

Anyway, really liked my visit to America, people I met, the roads ridden, but I missed out on getting real BBQ this trip.

Well, I would suggest that the problems you had were due to the facts that you were in southern Ontario in an area known as the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) - which contains about 20-25% of Canada's population, including a large number of folks whose driving skills are.....well, anyway. The rest of our country is really very nice to visit and has waaaaayyyy fewer people and many more that are polite, friendly and thoughtful (except perhaps on a hockey rink where hardly any Canadians are nice ;)).

 One of life's eternal battles.

:cussing:Right. Do they even make these anymore, anywhere.

Why are those riders on the other side of the Interstate waving at me?
And why, when they get across from me to see what I'm riding, do they yank their wave back like their hand is hot water scalded.

(When riding in the rain)

Which part of me is still dry...
BWHAHAHA A thought that comes much to often. Usually followed with, is there a rain suit made with extra length legs so they don't creep above the boot tops.

Hello MaxPete
I have lived here all my life so I guess it was more of a rhetorical question; it was the same deal last spring when I came back from Georgia although I got to 427/401 interchange before the volumn got excessive. The time before that was during the Pan Am Games when motorcycles were allowed in the City of Toronto jurisdiction car pool lanes, what a treat zooming (carefully) along the Gardiner and up the DVP, passing the energy wasters alone in their Audi's.......
Here in the 'Shwa I can get out to rural areas in 5 minutes and ride our flat grid roads.

Ahhhhh - hadn't noticed your locale. Yup, the Shaw is a good place for riding....almost as good as Peterborough....

great write up ,
love the 'random thoughts ' writing format .. Really gives a vivid impression of your ride. You should write more ;)

My one I think a lot is" Did she see me? Can she see me? Yes she did! Now you going to pull out in front of me anyway! Yes you are, and yes you did!

AGhhhhhhhhhhhhh she did ! bloody Nissan Micro drivers :D

Down here on narrow Country lanes all I ever think about is ....'Are they going to slow down...? surely they are going to slow down...the gaps too narrow....aghh mentally breath in as the car speeds by , the mirrors nearly taking my arm off.

And then, after a rectal vapor lock rips a hole in my saddle, you proceed up the road at a leisurely 10mph under the speed limit AND TURN OFF 100 YARDS LATER!

It really should be legal to shoot these people.

Thanks Peanut, it's been less than 2 years since I retired and words were my tools at that time. Now I can use them for fun and enlightenment. I like to craft a turn of phrase.
