Hey again, so I'm out working on the bike today and figured I'd try to get the seat off. However this proved to be more difficult than I imagined. I u locked the seat on the right hand side, however the left side of the seat is still connected to the frame. Does anyone know how I can get this off?

Welcome to the site.
Pictures of your bike and a recitation of its year and style help us help you.
Post edited, info for wrong year given, sorry.

Thanks! I managed to get it off, although not the most practical of ways. Went in through the taillight and pushed the lever up with a screwdriver.

OK, I just saw your earlier post where you identifiied the bike as an '81, so my comments are all wrong and relate to the hinged seat bikes. The lift off seat bikes are completely different as you have seen. Now that you have it off, add a little oil to all the moving spots to make it easier next time. You will have difficulty the first couple times getting it back on too.
