can anyone please let me have a link to where I can read or download an owners or users guide ?

I am not looking for a manual !

I can;t seem to find one for the 78/79 2F special model anywhere.
Yamageddon has very kindly provided me with a 76 guide and an 80 but I'm still looking for a 78-79 guide if someone has one I can buy a copy or download one

thanks Paul thats a very useful link . i've waded through that site many times over the years but never found a users guide.
What I'm looking for is not a manual I have loads of those . I'm trying to find a copy of the users guide that came with our bikes from new. It usually tells you how everything works and gives some diy maintainance advice etc .
cheers Johnny

thanks WER but did you see the costs?
$40+ dollars plus $50 import duties ! fuk me

..... and that's not even the real thing, it's a re-print, lol. I finally located one for my '78 Standard at under $10. Nice to have but they really don't tell you much. That's why I wouldn't pay more than $10 or so for one.

Found a really nice 79SII original Brochure on fleecebay for a real good price...............

Seen a few assembly manuals that have some good information in them that isn't in the manuals..........

I guess it will sell eventually to the die hard collector who must have everything.:)
I wanted one primarily to aquaint myself with the recommended servicing schedule so that I have a checklist to go through every Spring.

I've always done a thorough check of all the key components on my road bike before every ride , a little routine I have developed from an intimate knowledge over the years . Motorbikes are still relatively new to me so I just jump on and go which is a bit risky really

I have an owners manual for my 79SF Peanut, if you like I could scan it and send it to you, will take a couple of days though as I reckon there are about 150 pages in about A6 size.
I'm not sure of the difference between the 2F and the SF though, also mine is an Australian model.

Hi meddy thanks for the offer thats very generous but I couldn't possibly let you scan .......150 pages crikey thats a lot for a user guide please don't attempt to scan all that lot .

I thought it would only be 25-30 pages at most ?
thanks anyway buddy

It's definitely a user manual Peanut, here's a pic.

I was a bit enthusiastic on the amount of pages I forgot it's in 3 languages so probably around 70-80 pages.
Here's a couple of sample pages, I can copy it with an app I have on my phone so will take a bit of time but no problem once I sort out how to organize it all into one big PDF file.

Hi Meddy .thank you for the images yes that looks exactly like the guide I was looking for . I'm not sure of the differences if any between the 2F and the SF other than the obvious seat and wheels but I doubt it is much.

Even at 70 pages I really couldn't bear to think of you wasting a whole day scanning and converting images so please don't do it. You're a good bloke Meddy and I'm extremely grateful for your kind offer but I'd be far happier knowing that you were spending that time out riding your bike somewhere with a big stupid grin all over your boatrace.

Tell you what ...if you have a helmet cam i'd much rather see a vid of one of your rides. I haven't been able to ride my bike yet this year and i sure do miss it. I have to resort to watching youtube vlogs to get my daily fix. :(

I do have a camera Johnny, not real proficient with it yet, here's a link to a few captures I put on youtube, don't expect anything too fancy though, these were just trial ones and I am still yet to master any video editing.
These were all done on a trip I did last year to the mountains west of Sydney, about 1200 k's from where I live, and sorry there are no Xs's in these either.
You will probably want to turn the volume down a bit too.
Here's a map to show where they were taken.
And just a bit of info on the area, Sofala and Hill End are old Gold Mining towns from the late 1800's, the Capertee Valley was home to a shale oil refinery during the second world war supplying fuel for Australia, nothing left now except for some derelict buildings.

This next one might be a bit long 35mins!

great vids nice and stable image too ,your cam must have image stabilisation i reckon.
I really enjoy watching these touring videos , get to see Countries that I am never likely to visit in my lifetime. Its almost like being there on the bike ...very immersive , I can't get enough of touring vids especially when they have that gorgeous raw XS650 soundtrack.
Thanks for posting Mick

Hi All:

I don't suppose anyone has a 1976 XS650C manual that they would be willing to part with.....?

Pete

Yes, a Sony HDR20, I'm still experimenting on the best mounting spots, seems to be ok down low, and in the first couple of clips I just hand held it with a lanyard around my neck so I can drop it anytime.

thats pretty impressive video for hanging around your neck.:)

I tried putting my Mobius Cam in a top jacket pocket but it wasn't too successful.
I find that with the cam fixed to my helmet ,either the video is swiveling all over the place ,(as I look up peoples gardens or at interesting landmarks and scenery,) or I have to keep my head locked straight ahead for the trip which is no fun.
