Members with 1972-1973 front fenders -- I.D. help needed!

Yes, that does confuse things. And yes I agree that bike is rare -- gold with an "Electric" badge -- maybe only an Australian and/or European thing?

What about the reinforcing moulding/rib on the edge of the long fender sides -- your 73s should not have it.

Only some of the states here had the "pearl yellow gold" in very small quantities. Also some in Europe.

Here's a photo of the edge of a new 73 fender :

txxs, thanks for the pic.
It's a little hard to tell with the bubble-wrap in the way, but that brand-new fender sure seems to have the reinforcing moulding -- which it shouldn't. As you wrote earlier, maybe there are multiple versions, or they had parts they needed to get rid of and threw together, or who knows what?
Or, more likely is that they recognized that the reinforcement that the moulding provides is an improvement, so they added it in later "replacement parts" runs of the fender?

Also I believe that a 1974 "assembly" including the 1974 fender plus 1974 front brace and 1974 rear brace will bolt on to the 73 outer tubes.
(However I don't think the 74 fender can't be used with the 73 braces)

This is what i found when i was trying to mix and match 73 braces on a 74 guard. The bolt spacing were different. Frustrating because it wasn't all that much.

I have seen a guard for a 73 that also has the rib along the side as per your last pic. It curves out but doesn't roll back over like the 74-76 guard

txxs, thanks for the better pictures. Your new 73 fender does NOT have the reinforcing rib/moulding. It is exactly as it should be.

I recently acquired this 1972 fender:

It came without the forward stay. I bolted up my 1972 left-side fork leg to it (the one in post #2).

The bottom fork mount hole is a little off -- It doesn't look like much, but it puts more tension on the fender than you would think to line it up -- the kind of tension that I think would lead to fender cracks. It's possible that this fender is a little tweaked, and that's why it doesn't line up.

Here are all of the key 1972 identifiers: NO fender side edge reinforcing rib/moulding, oblong hole on left-side brace, round hole on right-side brace, no brake line groove on left side, and two welded-on spacers on the right-side brace mounting holes.
BTW, the brace hole spacing on all 1972-1976 front fenders seems to be 60mm center-to-center.

Just tossing it out there but was wondering if anyone wanted 1972 fender that might be a little rougher than the one Dogbunny posted a picture of. I have not tried to clean it but is far from perfect. Don't think there are any dents in it and believe the stays are not too bad.

I could post some pictures if anyone is interested. It's not going to the scrap yard right away but would like to think it would be worth something to someone!
