Found this on eBay. Local pick up only. Looks like no title. Because it is incorrectly listed as an XS-650 (with dash), there is a good chance that it won't show up in most searches. And therefore, may go really cheap.
If someone who was alerted to it here scores it really cheap, maybe they'll repay the favor by selling me the shocks for the price of shipping, or else the carbs?
If there is more than one near-by Forum members who is interested, maybe you all can coordinate here and split it up between you, instead of having a bidding war?

I’m in SF and just put in a bid - looks like it ends in 9 days.

Yep, heck of a deal. Just price out some of the bits you got and you'll see (engine covers, side and centerstand, forks). Not to mention what looks like a complete motor that can most likely be made to run again, and a complete carb set.

Picked it up today. Pretty rough, but that was to be expected.

I will probably sell most of this stuff and just keep the frame + parts of the engine. thinking about hardtailing it. The bike was in a fire which apparently only lasted long enough to melt the harness and rubber bits on the frame, but not the tires. weird.

carbs
complete exhaust
wheels
shocks
forks
front brake
rototillers
tank

someone make me a stupid low offer and get this stuff out of my hair.

Does the frame have the title?
it will once I’m done @ DMV. out of their system for 20+ years, got a CA DMV bill of sale and power of attorney filled out by the seller, so it should be easy. just have to write a statement of facts (another CA dmv form), apply for a lost title, and get a VIN verification done by highway patrol. Sounds like way more steps than it really is - not that hard.

Not that hard when the dmv is open...

If your a AAA member go as fast as you can and get it started there.

I had to run 2 bikes through the hoops since the covid shut down and it was a HUGE pain.

they only opened 5 DMV offices in the state so they are incredibly slower than normal.

I’m a 4hr drive from the closest one so that wasn’t an option.

A titled frame is worth more than 10 times what you gave for the whole lot! Kansas DMV`s are by appointment only.

AAA won’t touch anything without a title unfortunately. I do all my non-weird stuff there but they have sent me packing more than once on the weird stuff.

I’ve had the same exact experience during COVID - got one through entirely using their virtual system, but they kicked back my tracker and I actually had to go into the field office her in SF. Just waiting on my CHP VIN appointment now to wrap that one up.

AAA will get the process started And get you Reg124 form started, then chp and back to AAA.

AAA will no longer do a standard vin check(reg 31 form) anymore, why? They were just as dumbfounded as to why as I was.

At least that was my last 2 experiences with the offices down here. I’ll do anything to avoid the DMV.

I’m in San Luis Obispo and a chp appointment only took 3 days to get. When I lived in Orange County it was more like 3 months.

nice they have a dmv open there. It seems we are in a No mans land here. My closest option was Fresno.
