I'm sure dreading taking my XS1-B down for a top end rebuild. I have it running great, and I'm almost afraid to mess with it, especially with summer just around the corner. It burns oil, the cam chain is stretched out, and occasionally it beaches a cloud of smoke when starting it. The bottom end seems to be fine. I've never had a 650 apart and don't know what I'm getting into. I guess there's only one way to learn

I was a bit leery at first too because I had never torn apart a motor with an overhead cam and that required it to be "timed" upon re-assembly, but that turned out to be easy. The hardest part I think is getting the motor out and back in.
