I have a buddy who is looking to build a custom XS, he's is looking at two frames, a '75 and a '83 Special. What are the differences between the two?

Why arent many people using used oem rearsets? Is there just not enough $$ saved to make it worth while? It looks to me that fabing up some adapter plates would be easy and don't you have to do that anyway for universal fit aftermarket ones? I'm not being critical, I just dont want to head down...

I need to paint the rear section of my frame, the battery box and the swing arm. There is some surface rust present. What is the best paint for this porpose?

I just looked at a 73 TX650 looked pretty good, but it had a king and queen style seat. Does anyone have any idea if that pan will work with available foam and seat covers? I have seen how much the early pans are. Oh. I would like to make the seat stock.
