How do I delete the starter relay and safety relay???

Once my Sparx cap arrives I'm hoping to test everything out. I've not fired the bike up since installing my HHB PMA. Looking forward to getting her back on the road.

How do I delete the starter relay and safety relay???

Thanks retiredgentleman. I appreciate the response. I thought maybe some of the wires would need to be spliced together. Wasn't sure if this also would interrupt the kill switch. I've reviewed the wiring diagram in my service manual, but I'm a bit of a beginner and don't fully understand...

How do I delete the starter relay and safety relay???

I've recently removed the electric starter on my 78 XS650SE. I've also unplugged the starter relay, and the safety relay. I want to delete both of these permanetly. My wiring harness is mostly stock and I'm not sure how to proceed with the wires in my harness that were connected to my starter...

Simple ignition switch problems with tail light.

Peanut, awesome information! I appreciate you breaking it all down for me. I'll dig into this a bit more tonight when I get home from work. Also yes, the the blue is actually a blue/yellow.

Simple ignition switch problems with tail light.

Also one more thing to note. When I do have power to everything the stock kill switch seems to be bypassed. I can have it on or off and still have power to the bike with the ignition switch set to 2 clicks.

Simple ignition switch problems with tail light.

Hello, I have recently swapped the stock ignition switch on my 1978 650 Special with a TC Bros simple three wire ignition switch. I thought this would just be a simple swap, but it's not been quite as simple as expected. I'm working with three wires, Brown( turn signals and headlamp fuse)...

Loss of power/bogging down when in gear.

Since my last reply I have rebuilt the carbs, and replaced the carb holders. Also had my local shop do a dynamic sync. The bike is running well now. Thank you all for your helpful comments.

Can i swap front hub parts????

I have a 78 XS650 Special with the mag wheels. I've just bought and rebuilt a set of wire wheels of the same year, 1978 and the front hub is missing all internal parts except the new sealed bearings and oil seals I bought from Mikes XS. I'm wondering if I can pull the parts from the mag hub...

Loss of power/bogging down when in gear.

Tried to run the bike last night without the air boxes to see if they were the culprit behind my loss of power but ran into a new symptom. The bike would start fine but would die shortly after starting. I could play with the idol to keep it running but as soon as I gave it gas it would die...

Loss of power/bogging down when in gear.

Hey DirtyErnie, To answer your question no. When I put on my new fuel tank I switched to a single high flow non vacuum Pingle petcock. Blocked the vacuum barbs on the manifolds as well. Thanks DE

Loss of power/bogging down when in gear.

weekendrider: Even mid range was a little off. Didn't play with choke to keep her running, just subtle control of the throttle seemed to help. Thanks for the clarification. I've had the bike for two years and never rebuilt the carbs, nor do I know if they have ever been rebuilt. So probably...

Loss of power/bogging down when in gear.

Was looking over the bike today and noticed fuel had been leaking from the left side carb holder. I'm assuming this is another sign pointing to carbs. Another thing I should point out is that I'm no longer using the vacuum barbs on the original carb holders. My new tank has a single non...

Loss of power/bogging down when in gear.

essexboydave: Hey, thanks for the tip. Last summer I did pull the airfilters to clean and lubricate. Seemed to be in good shape as far as I could tell. Would be worth another inspection though. Been thinking about the switch to K&N pods, might just work that into the to do list as well...

Loss of power/bogging down when in gear.

weekendrider: Yes, this would be a good time to clean and rebuild the carbs. Daunting task for a newbie, but should make for a great learning experience. retiredgentleman: I was just reading another thread on here about ditching the old fuses and replacing them with the automotive blade type...
