Thanks Leo. When I was at my shop trying it the other day the bike was in gear, and no shift lever on yet so I just assumed I could pull in the clutch. I guess that is what I get for assumming. Thanks for the help.

Downeaster are you saying if I pull in the clutch and give it a kick it wont turn the pistons over? If that is the case can the bike not be started in gear?

Hey all my kick starter is not engaging. It spins the clutch, but it doesn't turn the pistons over. I read this article http://www.xs650.com/forum/showthread.php?t=772 and I am guessing it would be my kick clip. The thing I am not understanding is how to replace it. The article is kind of vague...

Thanks Anlaf, but I have solved that problem. The carbs are freshly cleaned and rebuilt. I ended up putting a butane torch to the valve, and it came out. Dont worry all of the other parts were out of the carb before I did it, so nothing was harmed. I also had to put a bit of heat get the mixture...

Just my opinion, Go for a bigger headlight. The trees look a bit wide from the front and a big headlight would make it look better I think. Great bike though....What are you thinking for your paint scheme?

Ok I have all of my parts or they are in the mail. I need to check valves and then chain tension put the clutch cover on, put oil in it and hopefully fire it up this weekend.
