I use Hypoid 90w gear oil on my chain,just a little though.

I like to keep my clutch,throttle cables well lubed....they last a long time,My cable oiler was bought in 1979 in Somerset,UK when I lived there before coming to Canada. yes I'm an old bugger:D

I have mine at 100km/4000rpm,so yeah if I was you change the rear sprocket.Now you are probably going to hear from someone saying you have replace everything at the same. I very rarely put on a complete set,seems to work ok,as long as you keep it lubed.

I am looking at a double stack/ shotgun? Exhaust system,but its only listed for the 1974 TX650, I have a 73....was there any major changes in these two years? Thanks.

Just picked up this old girl today,TX650.....came with a spare engine.

Hi all,just joined up.......lots of info here....wow! Picked this old girl today,TX650...she is in ok condition,runs good and came with a spare running engine. This my second Yamaha 650,bought one Brand new in the UK june 1980.....Old bugger!!. Cheers.
