    Log Splitter Seals

The local Harbor Fright sells Viacom seals in an assortment pack. For shaft seals I’ve had success searching “seals for sale by size “ & ended up buying them VCI seals

    XS2 mirror

I’d like some thoughts on how to go about refurbishment of an original Yamaha mirror. It would appear they rolled the metal edge to hold the glass in place. If the old glass was broken out perhaps there is a way to fold the metal back , send the pieces out for rechrome then roll it back? Or...

Does anyone know anything about Yamaha YG1s?

Here is a wiring diagram, likely the points need cleaning. Ignition switch grounds out the black wire at coil to stop motor . To check points put ohmmeter on black wire feeding coil and a good ground. Rotate flywheel slow by hand and as points open or close should see couple of ohms difference...

    The ergonomic experiment

This subject interested me and thanks for the motivation to fix some things. My 1975 XS was actually getting to be not enjoyable to drive. Taking it out less each year and that bothered me. Some time spent readjusting carbs, softer rear shocks made it a little more user friendly to be around...

Changing Intake ports to a D shape for better flow.

Jack, not an aluminum expert but I have had the opportunity to talk with one. He said to use pure aluminum to weld any aluminum alloy so that’s what we did on cast aluminum. Stick welding with flux coated rods to reach in narrow spaces. That was 20+ years ago things may be different today...

    Short and simple exhaust

This is why I’m on here, to share and learn. Looked up EB rings they help keep a smooth flowing interior inside the pipe while providing support and material to weld on, plus you can mock up pipes then add the rings for a close gap “fitment”. Wish I’d known about them. I’d already gotten well...

    Tank Liner Recommendation

I’ve had similar problems on one tank that was painted and it was not due to a fuel leak like I thought but rather some chemical reaction from not properly sealing the old paint. Possibly the mounts that hold the badge on didn’t get sealer on the back side ??? Air pressure in the tank and soap...

    Short and simple exhaust

It’s been five years since making up the exhaust. To tell the truth I’ve never noticed a midrange flat spot. There may well be loss of horsepower but there is still enough for the type of riding I do. The paint and decals were getting wicked shabby looking so repainted the motorcycle this...

NOS 1975 gas tank on eBay

That tank is beautiful, congratulations. It may have cost a lot but repainting existing tank is not cheep even if doing it yourself I’d painted my ‘75 red some years ago and am now in process of going back to the original black and gold. The pictures you’ve posted help with decal placement...

    Route Advice

You may find the coastal route consists of heavy traffic on interstates, as they have discovered the fastest way to move vast quantities of vehicles is multi-lanes in straight lines. The further north you can arc a route the more interesting things become for the traveler. You didn't mention...
