Automotive key switch with springed start

I don't have a kill switch, but when I wired it to power and the other to start it wouldn't start. Saw another diagram with no kill and wired to start and second to ground and now mine starts perfectly.

Factory wires on solenoid is red with white and blue and white. One goes to start button/switch and other goes to ground. Doesn't matter which one is used for ground or button.

I'm going to just pull them motor. I'll lap it with the head on the motor, but I'm going to have issues with the rocker arm so I'll pull the valve cover and remove the rocker arm and lap it. If that doesn't fix my leak then I'll pull the head.

Rubber hose on the valve stem to lap. Removing the compound, dust, debris, etc.... Is the trickier part. Best way to remove spring is?
