$200 Got it from the original owner with 12k miles. New topend with less than 50 miles, but the bike was sitting for 12 years in a garage. Tank had previously been coated. Emptied the tank, changed the oil and cleaned the carb and it started right up with a new battery. Need a carb sync and...

Where or how did you find your XS650 ?

I always wanted a cb750. I bought a 74 cb750 about 5 years ago. Sold it and decided I wanted another cb to hardtail. Was doing research and found the xs websites and had to have one. None on craigslist that so posted a wtb ad in the evening and got a response the next day for a real nice 78...

    starter relay wiring

I don't have a kill switch, but when I wired it to power and the other to start it wouldn't start. Saw another diagram with no kill and wired to start and second to ground and now mine starts perfectly.

Wanting to keep mid controls for hardtail...

I don't like that it only uses one bolt to mount. I made two quarter inch steel plates that used both exhaust mount bolt holes and came up to the correct height and drilled a second third hole for the pegs. My bracket looks simular to a rounded triangle on the top with a hole in the top for the...

Can you pull the intake valve spring without pulling the engine out?

No doubt the most time consuming part is going to be pulling the motor, but not a big deal. Just don't feel like having to replace all the gaskets. Everything adds up quick. Good thing I don't have to pay a mechanic! Plan is to use brake cleaner through intake flooding cylinder and vacuuming...

Can you pull the intake valve spring without pulling the engine out?

I'm going to just pull them motor. I'll lap it with the head on the motor, but I'm going to have issues with the rocker arm so I'll pull the valve cover and remove the rocker arm and lap it. If that doesn't fix my leak then I'll pull the head.

Can you pull the intake valve spring without pulling the engine out?

Rubber hose on the valve stem to lap. Removing the compound, dust, debris, etc.... Is the trickier part. Best way to remove spring is?

Can you pull the intake valve spring without pulling the engine out?

My left side has no compression caused by left intake valve seal. (not the umbrella valve seal) Would like to do a quick valve lapping to get it back on the road. If not I'll pull the engine and remove the head.

Was almost done with chop, 1 step forward 3 stapes back.

Bought my 78 about a year ago ago and chopped it within a month after making sure there were no issues. Set since last winter running great, but needing to be rewired. Finally picked it up a couple of weeks ago from my buddues house with the welder (hour and a half away) with plans to rewire...
