Harder/impossible to shift gears at idle as engine warms up.

Do you know the bore diameter on the Aprilia slave you used? I'm dealing with this right now, using an FZR Genesis slave... The FZR master that came with it was 5/8” (appx.16 mm) and way too stiff, and I could hear the clutch boss clunking against the inside of the case at full seperation. Went...

    Hard shift/no shift

Yeah, I can put it in 1st/2nd, but then I can't get out. So sounds like the clutch drag might be to blame. If I swap back to the 5/8" master and that solves the problem, I'll know what to do. Will update once I've found the solution. -Thanks!

    Hard shift/no shift

Even with the motor running? You never come to a stop in gear and pop it in neutral? Or in 2nd and kick it down to 1st? The funny thing is that on a jack, rolling the tire by hand, it shifts fine. With the motor running, it's totally jammed.

    Hard shift/no shift

As mentioned in the OP, the clutch *is* dragging ever so slightly. There's no adjustment to the slave cylinder, the only way to adjust throw is by swapping master cylinder bore size. Suppose I could put the 5/8" back on and see if it still drags with the new linkage setup...But it doesn't make...

    Hard shift/no shift

I am working out the final kinks on my project, already had it out for a test ride and then had to take a step back and address some leaks due to overlooked/improperly installed seals... At any rate, when I had it out shifting was extremely stiff. When I rebuilt the engine everything seemed to...

xs EFI conversion fuel system issues

That looks bigger than the inline Bosch I am using , I should post a pic of all the plumbing under the seat with all the blower in/out/bypass lines ... It's TIGHT. Couldn't possibly for anything more. At any rate- that looks like an in-tank unit? And is the pressure adjustable? All academic...

xs EFI conversion fuel system issues

Ok, update- What we have here is a classic example of what the head doctors call "catastrophising" ... aka "it's not as bad as it seems". Lesson learned- fully diagnose the problem before trying to engineer a solution. I made a quick little temporary cap out of a piece of plexiglass, fitted to...

xs EFI conversion fuel system issues

Ok, going with a repurposed bike specific system would have probably been easier... but i'm too far down the road for that. thanks for the info anyhow.

xs EFI conversion fuel system issues

Yes, as I understand it most OEM systems (bike/car) remain pressurized long after the engine is shut down. from what I gather aftermarket regulators behave differently though. I know I don't have a leak, It's just how the regulator works. From Ratranger's post it would seem there are differences...

xs EFI conversion fuel system issues

Is that just a ball valve? I just ordered something similar. I'm just wondering- seems like those are designed to block flow when fully inverted. would it hold back the fuel if it was on it's side? when did a bike ever go down and land wheels up? I'm sure it's happened but not often...

xs EFI conversion fuel system issues

I'm on the very last leg of this project that has taken several years to get to this point... http://www.xs650.com/threads/f-i-2-forced-induction%C3%97fuel-injection.56603/page-2#post-681076 It's (among other things) an EFI conversion run on Microsquirt. Actually I shouldn't say I'm on the last...

    (F.I.)^2 = Forced Induction×Fuel Injection

I just ordered an RD kicker , necessary to clear the rearsets! The decision to go kick only was made a long time ago, and the more time goes by the more pointless that seems... Part of it is the starter button on my xs500 broke years ago and I never bothered replacing it as the kick starter was...

    (F.I.)^2 = Forced Induction×Fuel Injection

Just some progress shots. So close I can hear it :) Plumbing: Crank sensor/clutch slave: Full frontal: Broadside: Remaining on the "to-do" list: *Run vacuum lines *Rewire headlight relay array (had some minor bugs on first test) *Install starter motor delete *Install cylinder head temp...

    DIY sump filter

You're referring to the unit made by beags64? (is there a way to tag another member?) That is really nice. If Heiden's design seems a bit flimsy, that one seems a bit overkill. I like the idea of using the housed filter element to shield the mesh, especially if holes are only drilled in the...

    DIY sump filter

As I'm heading down the home stretch with with my long term project (I think it's been over 5 years in the making!), I finally got to dealing with the sump filter, and came up with a rather neat solution for the task, so I'd like to share here for everyones benefit. The sump filter is one of...

    (F.I.)^2 = Forced Induction×Fuel Injection

That's slick man. I'm taking the tach signal off a crank sensor with cam sync from he points so I'll have to adust for that but the fueling and spark tables to get idling will be VV helpfully. PM sent

    (F.I.)^2 = Forced Induction×Fuel Injection

Ok wow, almost a year since I've updated anything here. (And what year....) So "meanwhile in Toronto..." I've decided to repaint the bodywork as I wasn't really happy with the initial results . Got that done just before the weather turned, and I'm happy I did. Wired everything up. Yet to be...
