It's a relatively simple fix, if you can take the side cover off and clutch assembly. Look up starter Bendix gear on the forum and that's what needs to be done to fix it. Some sites sell a set of a new Bendix gear, spring and the gear as well.

Confusingly enough, another measurement today got me 2.3ohm on the coil primaries, and then the expected 12v down to 1v on the green wire and I had spark. Very weird. Must be a bad coil. Definitely wasn't looking forward to replacing the ignition unit.

Anyone know how much voltage the pamco green wire is supposed to read when it's not plugged to a coil? I'm trying to figure out if I have a faulty coil and pamco or just the coil that's blown. And what's it supposed to read when it's plugged to the coil? My coil reads 1ohm across the primaries...

Oh yikes that's a few more than me, yeh I'm not too sure how I got it either.. had the bike sitting for half a year, then found the Kickstarter was jammed and not lining up to turn the motor, took out the cover and found that.

Sorry I'm not too sure what you mean by that. As in the bike can't take off in first gear? How long did it take you to split the crank case and have you got a video or resource that helped? I don't want to take the heads off if possible

Did you have issues with the bike running on first gear? I have the same problem but I have e-start so I'm planning to use that instead of splitting the crank case for now.. unless the bad news is first gear won't work properly if some teeth are missing

Wait hold on, the gear with the broken teeth isn't used for anything else other than the kick start right? So it should still run and move fine?

I ended up buying the hydraulic clutch kit from xs650shop de because I needed to get the bike going but its a pricey kit. I haven't installed it yet but supposedly it needs a light shave on the case to clear sometimes. I think if you make it fit for a better price it would be pretty popular
