Hi all. I`m having difficulties with installing the carbs on a 79`engine. New carb rubbers, but the ID is 40 and the OD of the carbs are 42mm... Is this "normal" or did I get the wrong ones..?

Thanks a bunch all! It`s clear now. I overthought and complicated the issue... Anyway, that means it is not a 81 motor.. How can I find out what motor is in the bike? From the engine number? I saw there was 3 different valveclearances to choose from.
