Numbers matching frames and motors for a 1981 and 1982 sohc yamaha xs400. I have clean titles in my name for both. The 81 has 14k miles on the motor and ran fine when parked about 4yrs ago. The 82 has 20k miles and ran fine when parked about 2yrs ago. The 81 had a lower rear engine mounting...
Looks like the outer edges where "cut" from a sheet or something and appear to be uneven. My guess is at some point it was added to cover a fallen off or worn out stock one.
I thought these could only handel around 90hp before they blew apart. And that was with much larger pistons. These are said to be stock size motors. ???? This says DOHC motors.
I bought some x-ring types off ebay a while back for a few of my xs400 bs34 carbs and have put about 1000 miles on one set and still no leaks. The bike runs great just good as when they where new. Time will tell I guess.
