I just replaced the TCI and pickup coil assembly and rotor, both were said to be working when sold so i have my doubts on it being those (hopefully) but the coil wires is what has me confused, how come theres 4 wires going into 1 wire?
Should I redo this harness just for ignition and charging?? i dont need lights or signal lights cause i have special plans for the bike lol. im not the most experienced with wiring harnesses so this is pretty confusing for me
Do you guys think it will be to hard to save it the way it is now?
I checked the r/w from coil to fuse box and i got nothing so i started digging into the harness and found that some of the coil wires doesnt even go back to the fuse box??
Also what are these prongs for on the back of the ignition switch?
On the wiring harness it says theres a main 20A switch is that the ignition key? all ive found for fuses are the 4 glass tube fuses
And to test if 12v is going to coil do i put positive lead on r/w wire going into coil and the black lead on the other wire?
Sounds good, Do these bikes have any safety switches? Kickstand switch, clutch switch, oil pressure switch or brake switches that might cut spark if not working?
Im currently trying to get spark on it, i've replaced the pickup coils + rotor and the ignitor unit. What else is needed for spark? All 3 plugs have no spark so im thinking its not the ignition coils
If theres anywhere else to post this lmk i havent found any other forums yet
Anyone got a wiring diagram for an 1981 XS850 with electronic ignition system?
