Which supplier. Boats, stadium or Mikes??

I bought some parts for BS38 from MikesXS. 1) Carb bowl gaskets needed trim to fit. 2) Choke plunger gasket did not fit at all. 3) Choke plunger lasted about 300 miles and started to allow mixture to be too rich. Replaced it with old one that came with the bike and problem is solved. 4) Needle...

    XS650B : Neutral Light Bulb

I got these bulbs for replacement bulb. 14v-3.4W, P/N 1891 2v off from spec, but these will be fine. I don't' think I can get to it this weekend, too may other things to do. 650Skull, from out side those screws you mentioned does not appear to be loose since I don't see any chafe marks or...

    XS650B : Neutral Light Bulb

Thank you, 650Skull. Saw your album again. So, there used be rubber dampers. Now, they are worn out and gone. Is this what's happening to my tach? I don't know if I have gentle enough hands to tackle the job, but I will give it a shot. But, what about those damper replacements? I hope...

    XS650B : Neutral Light Bulb

Now the tach is secured onto its frame, it makes rattling noise as I ride. The dial is vibrating. The needle is showing steady RPM, looks to be correct RPM, too. I lubed the tach cable, but no improvement. Something is loose. I would like to send it out to a repair shop and have them look at...

    Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit?

I had used a product called "Save-A-Thread" with a good result on a KZ1000 many years ago. http://www.amazon.com/Helicoil-5334-14-Save-A-Thread-Thread-Repair/dp/B0002SRF4O/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Coat the tap with grease to catch metal shavings and you should be good to go. Mark

    XS650B : Neutral Light Bulb

Thanks to every one. I had the gauge apart. Those 2 of 8mm cap nuts are the ones held it together and onto the frame/ring work. I thought it was more complicated. The rubber seal was torn apart. As 650Skull said, it was the cause of the gauge rattle for a while, which I didn't mention. I cut...

    XS650B : Neutral Light Bulb

Thank you, 650Skull. I just checked out your album. Those gauges show their ages, don't they. My gauges are not too far off from yours, I think. I rode the bike this morning. The neutral light worked for a few times. Now, I think it is more of connection problem than the burnt bulb.

    XS650B : Neutral Light Bulb

My neutral light bulb has been flickering for some time. It needed a light tap on the gauge to wake up some times. But, now I think the bulb is burnt out. The light does not illuminate even the blue wire is grounded on to the engine. How can I gain access to the bulb? I have no idea how to...

XS650B : Air filters and air box question

Thank you for the link, 5twins. Going with foam filter around 78 filter cores will be more economical than going with K&N, it seems. I am still undecided whether to use 78 box on my 75 or continue to use 75 box after fixing the tab for the lid to hook onto. If I was to use 78 box and wanted...

XS650B : Air filters and air box question

Yesterday, I got an air box assembly off of 78 delivered. The seller had included air filters along with the box, to which I didn't know if they were included in the deal. The 78 box has different way of having the inlet air enter into the compartments for the filters than 75. There is that...

XS650B : Air filters and air box question

I think what I have are OEM style filters from XSMike's. Since these filters have extra openings for cross over tube, I thought it will be difficult to wrap them with home made/cut foam filters.

XS650B : Air filters and air box question

Due to the extra openings on stock filters on 650B, two filters work as one unit as I see it. A small metal tab that is on the lower side of left box of mine is worn out. One end of the lid is supposed be hooked onto that tab while upper part of the lid is screwed down with 10mm hex bolt. I...

XS650B : Air filters and air box question

I was not clear about my intention. Yes, as Grinder said. I would like to retain the stock air box and use K&N air filters. For 650B, they are not available for some reason.

XS650B : Air filters and air box question

I would like to use K&N air filters on my 650B (1975), but they don't make one for this model year. Would the ones for 1976-79 fit on 75 somehow? If they don't fit, can I swap the filter box to the one from 76-79?
