    Petcock elbow

I have a XS 2 with a repo Mikes XS Petcock. I am trying to find a M7 x 1 brass elbow with Brad end for it, but I come up blank. I have found NPT 1/4 inch that look right but I doubt the threads will work. Dennis Kirk does not have any and Lowbrow didn't pickup the phone. ANY known sources out...

    Need help with carb tuning/jetting...

Trying to get my BS38's tuned. XS2 starts fine, idles nice and low, but as soon as you hit the throttle, it bogs down and dies..seems like a too rich condition and this is my assumption. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. When I remove the carbs the throttle plate/valve is soaked in gas...

Blowing fuses, traced to electronic ignition

Working on a 1972 650 XS2 with the points replaced with a circuit board. I used the attached diagram to wire the electronics, as I put this rebuilt engine into a different frame. For the past two days I have not been able to get the plugs to produce any spark. Coils are new dual output, and all...

72xs2 engine in 74tx frame, have a footpeg problem

As you can see from the photo, the stock xs2 foot pegs I have interfere with the bottom of the kick starter such that i cannot slide the bracket over the upper mount stud. Are the foot pegs for the tx650 different, so if i get a set I will be ok? Or will I have to make (rig) something?

Poorly idling bike, looked into the carbs and they were dirty so I got some rebuild kits from Mikes and rebuilt them. Now both carbs are overflowing within 2 seconds of turning on the gas. When I first took off the bowl to see what was up, the bowl was dry....floats are intact flange is set at...

    Carb slides

Troubleshooting a carb problem on BS38s on a tx frame. Right side carb won't idle steady and stumbles if revved. Took carb off for cleaning the pilot circuit and noticed the slide falls way fast 2 to 3 seconds to bottom out when thumb is over the oval port on top the Venturi. I have a set of...

    Bike is too loud.

See pic for what I am working with. Bike is crazy loud, I have removed the baffles, and wanted to get some input from the "been there, done that crowd". What can I do to these baffles to quiet it down? Do I reduce the size of the "upstream" side of the baffle to get more volume through the...

Carb jetting - Need help interpreting manual

The tech section references an online how to "http://www.iwt.com.au/mikunicarb.htm" as a good guide to understand how to tune the Mikuni carbs. I have a 72 XS aafter warm up, my midrange performance sucks. The engine seems to stumble all over itself. I am thinking about pulling the carbs, taking...

Using the attached Simplified XS650 wiring diagram with PAmco and kicker only. Took pictures today to hopefully find out what I am screwing up. Cant figure out how to connect the alternator out six prong plug (3 white, b, blk, g) to the reg/rect. I have tried to wire up the 73 rect but the...

    Wiring Harness Question-

Using the attached wiring diagram as a guide. Not sure about the lower left side of the diagram where it shows the alternator connecting to the rectifier. None of the wires are colored. Am I to assume there is an idiot proof plastic connector between the alternator and rectifier? And there is a...

    First build, XS2 & TX650, need a little help

and yes I have a manual(but not xs2 specific). To bad the blow up diagram in the manual does not agree with my front wheel parts. I suspect that may have to do with the fact the front wheel is off a XS2.. The problem I am having is an extra 1/2 inch of space between the front forks(forks off...

    Looking for an XS2 frame

Anyone know of an XS2 frame for sale? I have a bike that was restored in 2010, then flipped, and the frame was bent. Everything very nice expect for frame and forks.... Also, what are the opinions on getting a frame straightened? Too risky?
