Would my carbs function correctly with the mismatched slides, or would I need to replace the 78 slide to a 77. And would they function correctly with slides not intended for the carbs. According to MikesXs the 78 is no longer in production, the website states "Carb slides for 1978-79 XS650s...

yep. thats what I meant. thanks I'm having to replace my throttle assembly anyway and since the 2-1 cable seems to give people grief, I thought it might be a good idea. I just wasn't sure if it would make syncing the carbs more or less of a pain.

I was wondering if going to a dual throttle would solve the 2-1 cable issue? Or would it just complicate things?
