So I'm currently building up an 81 Special w/ TC Bros hardtail and all the parts are coming off an xs that someone turned into a chopper and all but destroyed that frame in the process. I went to put the rear tire on today and found that the spacing is wrong and the axle is about 1/2" too...

Does anyone out there have the Hugh's Handbuilt PMA conversion kit on their bike? My stator just went out so I'm wondering if it's really that much better before I go and spend $400 on it or if I should just hunt down an original charging system?
